These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Past mobile app and related services ("Past" or the "App"), operated by an individual developer ("we", "us", or "our"). By downloading or using Past, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
You record a short video, seal it, and it comes back to you on a future date. You may also send a sealed recording to other people by sharing an invite link. Two things about that are deliberate and worth stating plainly:
You must be at least 13 years old to use Past. If you are under 18, you may use Past only with the permission and involvement of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.
Past requires an account. You sign in with Apple or Google. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account and for keeping your sign-in credentials secure. You can delete your account at any time from the App's Settings.
You retain ownership of the recordings you create in Past ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited license to store and process Your Content solely to operate the App and deliver it to you and to the people you sent it to. We do not claim ownership of Your Content, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use it to train models.
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour in Past. An account that sends it is removed, and the content goes with it.

Every capsule someone else sent you can be reported and its sender blocked, from the capsule itself and by pressing and holding it in your list. You do not need to know who sent it — Past resolves the sender for you and never tells you who it was.
We review every report within 24 hours. Where a report is upheld, we remove the content and eject the account that sent it. We may act on a report without notice to the reported user, and we may suspend an account while we look at it.
If something you see in Past needs attention faster than the App allows, email support@pingoal.app.
Your recordings are stored privately and are readable only by the people entitled to them. We do not watch them as a matter of course, and there is no automated scanning of their contents. What a report does is give us a specific reason to look at a specific recording — which we then do, and act on. See our Privacy Policy for what is stored and where.
The App itself, including its design, software, and branding, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for your personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms.
Past runs on services we rely on to operate it (such as Apple, Google, and our hosting and infrastructure providers). We do not control those services and are not responsible for outages or changes on their side. We do not sell your data or share it for advertising — see our Privacy Policy for exactly which providers handle what, and why.
With your permission, Past sends you a push notification when a capsule unlocks. The notification never carries the contents of a capsule. You can turn notifications off in your device settings; your capsules still unlock, and the App still shows them.
You may stop using Past at any time, and you can delete your account and its data from within the App's Settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if you send content that breaches section 5, or if it is necessary to protect the service or other users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply.
Past is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. Past is not a backup service or an archive of record. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of or related to your use of Past. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us (if any) in the 12 months before the claim or USD $50.
These Terms are between you and us, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for Past or its content. Your use of Past must comply with the Apple Media Services Terms and the Usage Rules in Apple's App Store terms. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the App and for addressing any claims relating to it (including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, and intellectual property claims), and for any maintenance or support for the App. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of Past after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Taiwan, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
